In this project, I led the UX and UI strategy for a global financial platform used by investors for international operations. Beyond delivering interfaces, I acted as a change agent in an environment with low design maturity, establishing fundamental product rituals (critiques, structured handoffs) and implementing a robust Design System to scale production speed.
Process
Context & Challenge
The objective was to raise the design standards of a complex financial system used for international operations. However, the primary hurdle was cultural: the environment lacked standardized design processes, resulting in inconsistent outputs and slow adjustment cycles. I had to introduce essential workflows—from design critiques to developer education—to ensure the design was not just visually appealing but technically feasible.
Design System & Smart Componentization
To solve the lack of standardization, we implemented the Julius Baer design system (Zafire) using advanced Figma features like local variables. I created a library of reusable components, such as dynamic data grids and tables, and produced detailed technical documentation. This documentation was critical to accelerating the handoff process and bridging the knowledge gap with the development team.
Result
The impact of structured DesignOps was immediate and measurable. By moving from ad-hoc creation to a component-based workflow, we achieved a massive reduction in cycle time. This confirmed that the new system allowed the team to deliver value faster, validating the investment in process and education.
